How do you think we could empower our Colombian students to critically spot fake news?
Nowadays fakes news had been increasing during last years, it is because of the disinformation. Young people believe most of the articles they read, it is because they do not know how to differ between the real or false information. Teachers should be teaching to children how to get real and validated information (input) in school. Disinformation is a big problem nowadays, it is because children would grow up believing in wrong information, then they would share it. As a result, it will be a chain misinformation. For example; sometimes young people think that an article is true because they saw a video, or they had had experience about it. Then, they would defend that idea or that article as if it was true, (Young people can give you support points based on they experience or other articles they had read in the past). But it is no true at all, because they did not double check if it was true. The most famous...
Henry Giroux: Where is the Outrage? Comment
Firstly Henry Giroux talks about the importance of students/learners in the universities, they have to take a critical position towards the university counts in a democracy. It is because largest corporate and market driven force to think in a different way, They try to become you in a passive person in front of educational policy, in order to take control of the institutions. As a result, democratic institutions and public schooling are being downsized, if not altogether disappearing. This is a big problem because this market had been increasing during the years, it had been getting power. According to Giroux (2013) “we should develop educational approaches that reject a collapse of the distinction between market liberties and civil liberties.” Then, teachers should be able to develop a critical pedagogy that can give solution to the traditional pedagogies, such as: neoliberalism and anti-democratic traditions. Pedagogy can be developed in different way; i...
FIVE TANKS
I really like the videos, it was gratifying to know about stereotypes of other countries. According to the task number five, we have to talk about Colombian stereotypes. One of the most famous is if we are drug dealer. It is because some years before Colombia had “The biggest one” called Pablo Escobar. As we know he had done many things in the past as a result, we are knowing for loving drugs. I am not sure about this one, it is because some people do love drugs but, other people just hate it. It depends on the person and the people that treat with. Another one is that Colombia woman are easy. I do not know how to explain this one without using the swearword that foreign use. Foreign thinks that we have the best prostitutes or, that Colombian women look for money, easy money. I am not sure about this one, I guess it depends on the person.
